11 × 14 in (27.94 × 35.56 cm)

Barbara Ess began making work in the New York Post-Punk scene where she played in bands and edited a DIY publication called Just Another Asshole. Ess has long used unconventional methods to underline the subjective nature of experience and representation. Ess’ recent projects in photography, video, and sound deal with themes of boundaries and seek to uncover “ambiguous perceptual boundaries between people, between the self and the not self, and between ‘in’ here and ‘out’ there.”
